As Spring makes its appearance, I look back to what was an exciting and productive Winter season of painting and teaching. It was also a time to enjoy the property that my husband Don and I have purchased near Dixon, NM, which includes a 100-year old adobe currently under renovation. The studio there is a separate adobe building--tiny, but I managed to paint several large panels in it that have been shipped overseas for the upcoming Fresh Art Fair in Cheltenham, England (to be exhibited by Gormleys Fine Art.) I have also recently supplied new work to my galleries in Telluride, CO, Tucson, AZ, Atlanta, GA and Door County, WI, and to my newest gallery, Jen Tough Gallery in Vallejo, CA.
I'm very pleased to be one of the artists chosen to show in this beautiful new space.
A highlight of the winter was traveling to Auckland, New Zealand for three weeks of teaching and exploring, along with Norma Hendrix of Cullowhee Mountain Arts, and my partner at Squeegee Press, Jerry McLaughlin. The workshops were wonderful, with participants from NZ, Australia, Denmark, and the US. On our free days we visited black sand beaches, rain forests, lovely wineries and restaurants, and even got to ride horses on the beach.
Upcoming travels include North Carolina in June, Italy in August, and Ireland in September--all are centered around workshops (currently full with waiting lists) but will also offer time for travel, exploring, and connecting with friends. I am also teaching in Taos, NM in April--a beautiful place that is now only a half hour from our adobe house. It will be a lovely commute through the Rio Grande River gorge, and I look forward to being back at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House for the workshop, A Sense of Place. (photo attached of my NM studio)
