Paintings created this summer after my return from Greece were featured in my solo exhibit, Overlays, at Dan Addington Gallery in Chicago, which ran from July 12 through the end of August, 2019.

In February my work was featured at Thomas Deans Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cold Wax Video Workshop

Jerry McLaughlin and I are very pleased to present this new video workshop as a companion to Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations. The seven-hour video covers everything from setting up a studio, learning the techniques of building your foundation layers, creating texture, transfer techniques, mark-making, masking, stenciling, reductive techniques to demonstrations of mounting your finished work for display or sale.

In addition to the practical and technical content, the elements of art and approaches to abstraction, plus other tips and information are discussed.

Read more about our workshop video.

The abundant discussions and demonstrations offer a thrilling view of the studio practice with this flexible medium. Every aspect from the technical to the more conceptual has been fully illuminated from beginning to end.

Greece - Skopelos Foundation for the Arts

I recently returned from teaching a two-week workshop with Jerry McLaughlin at Skopelos Foundation for the Arts on the Grecian island of Skopelos. Afterward, I spent several days in Athens where I saw the Acropolis, Kerameikos (an ancient cemetery) and many beautiful examples of ancient Greek sculpture and other antiquities. These experiences have led to new work now that I am back in Wisconsin. Please visit my blog for photos and thoughts about my time in Greece.

Ireland - Ballinglen Arts Foundation

In mid-March, I returned to Ballinglen Arts Foundation in County Mayo, Ireland for the 7th time, to teach a workshop and to work on a series of paintings in response to the Seamus Heaney poem, Squarings. It was a productive time in a place that I love more each time I am there. The workshop was excellent; I have developed a new approach to teaching form and content that helps students develop their abstract visual language.
