Memoir Series
This series of eight small-scale oil and cold wax paintings was begun at the same time as the Shreds series, while I was on residency in Ireland. I added the shredded bits of old writing to oil paintings that evoke various landforms and states of mind, typical of most of my work. But here the bits of handwriting add new intimacy, emphasizing the personal and self-reflective nature of what I do. And more universally, they suggest the nature of memory and the passage of time, and the way that past experiences can resurface and become integrated in new ways.
